This Tuesday, the Parliament of the Balearic Islands approves a law promoted by the PP that plans to liquidate the island's Office for Prevention and Fight against Corruption with the acquiescence of Vox, making it the first autonomous community to abolish an organization of this type.

The elimination of this agency, included in the Transparency and Control of Public Offices law, has been expedited by the Government of Marga Prohens, which understands that the entity is “an invention of the PSOE” that “does not work and has never worked.” .

The socialists, who denounce that the closure of the office "increases the feeling of impunity", are considering appealing the suppression before the Constitutional Court.

Vox has announced its vote in favor of the end of this body against corruption.

The parliamentary spokesperson for the PP, Sebastià Sagreras, has defended the closure of the Anti-Corruption Office because it is a body that “does not work and has never worked”, while regretting that it was created by the PSOE “like a clay machine”. against the opposition parties with stratospheric salaries for their workers, but when [the investigations] put the PSOE in the focus of their investigations, they hid the issue.”

The PSIB-PSOE, however, has warned that the transparency law eliminates the sanctioning regime, increasing the feeling of impunity, and turns the insular Government into judge and party, by assuming the processing of complaints and claims in a department dependent on the Ministry of the Presidency.

This issue and other derivatives have led the socialists to study the possibility of appealing the rule before the Constitutional Court.

The possibility of an appeal to the Constitutional Court has led Vox's spokesperson in Parliament, Idoia Ribas, to believe that it will not have "much progress" because the Anti-Corruption Office is not a body provided for in the Constitution or the Statute.

“Just as the Parliament created it, it can close it,” she stated, before describing the possible measure as a maneuver by the PSIB to delay time.

Ribas has advanced Vox's vote in favor of the transparency law, arguing that it has been shown that the Anti-Corruption Office, in addition to involving duplication of functions, has turned out to be “ineffective and inefficient.”

The spokesperson for MÉS per Mallorca, Lluís Apesteguia, has also spoken on this issue, although he has stated that he prefers to wait for this Tuesday's plenary session, when before voting on the law, a vote will be taken, at the request of Més per Menorca, if requested. to the Advisory Council a report on the law, which the spokesman for the Menorcanists, Josep Castells, has described as a “botched job.”

The suppression comes the same day that the Prohens government is immersed in a file to claim the money paid for masks to a company investigated by the National Court in the so-called Koldo case.

The president of the Government, questioned this morning in Parliament by the PSIB, has insisted that the claim file has not expired and has argued that giving up has nothing to do with the deadlines but with the difficulties of its success, she has argued, precisely because the certificate of conformity signed by the previous Executive.

“This certificate is the company's defense of the plot,” said the president.

The leader of the Government has reiterated that the Executive is not satisfied with the 2.6 million initial difference, but rather opts for the nullity of the contract to recover the entire amount.

“The only thing that has expired are the masks,” she concluded.
