The legal advice to the Ministry of Finance sent today (Tuesday) its professional opinion to the legal advisor to the government regarding the conscription law.
According to the letter from the legal counsel, the proposal is expected to have far-reaching economic effects in the budgetary and economic aspect, and a considerable increase in the security burden imposed on the individual.
The opinion states that the Ministry of Defense's proposals regarding the extension of mandatory and reserve service in the coming decade is estimated at approximately NIS 104 billion, and the budgetary cost is estimated at approximately NIS 41 billion.
"Therefore, from an economic point of view, it is desirable to act in order to reduce the burden placed on the existing servants and to make the necessary efforts to expand the scope of the servants immediately."
