Russian propaganda has been running at full speed since the Crocus City Hall attack.

The powerful secretary of the Russian Security Council told Russian media on Tuesday that Ukraine was behind the attack which left at least 139 people dead on Friday.

An attack however claimed by the jihadist group Islamic State (IS).

Several armed men sowed death on Friday evening in this Moscow concert hall before setting fire to the building.

The four suspected attackers, originally from Tajikistan according to Russian authorities, were arrested the next day and the attack was claimed by the Islamic State Khorasan, the regional branch of IS in Central Asia.

In total, eight suspects, suspected of being involved in the attack, were arrested.

“Of course it's Ukraine,” Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev told Russian agencies on Tuesday, responding to the question of whether kyiv or ISIS had orchestrated the attack.

However, Russian President Vladimir Putin himself admitted the day before that the attack had been committed by “radical Islamists”, while continuing to imply a link with Ukraine.

Without providing proof, the newly re-elected Russian president claimed that the alleged attackers tried to flee to Ukraine after the attack.

kyiv, however, quickly denied any involvement.

Stuck in Ukraine since February 2024, Russian troops are struggling to break through kyiv's defenses, despite a clear superiority in terms of firepower.

Several observers of the conflict suspect the master of the Kremlin of wanting to use the attack on Crocus City Hall as a pretext to organize a new mobilization in Russia and try to definitively gain the advantage in Ukraine.
