The attack on Ukraine is costing Russia ever more expensively, including in terms of materials.

A group of analysts names a minimum number.

Kiev – Russian material losses in the Ukraine war have now broken the 15,000 mark.

This is what a group of analysts wrote in their recently updated report.

However, this is a minimum number.

Russia's tank losses are probably significantly higher than the verified minimum number

According to the report, the true number of losses on the Russian side is probably significantly higher.

According to its own statements, the Oryx OSINT group works exclusively with open source material, i.e. satellite images and photo or video material from the war zone.

A destroyed Russian tank lies on the edge of the village of Biskvitne, east of Kharkiv in 2022. A group of analysts has now verified the number of destroyed or lost war materials on the Russian side.

Russia's losses in the Ukrainian War: At least 1,886 tanks destroyed

For this reason, the losses counted at the front are probably closer to the truth than the material in the hinterland, writes Oryx member Jakub Janovsky on the online platform X. The vehicles and equipment that were destroyed or taken away in battle were not least for war propaganda reasons better documented from all sides than transport trucks or similar.

In the latter case, the number could even be 100 percent higher, estimates Janovsky.

“What an epic failure for a self-proclaimed military superpower,” he comments.

According to Oryx, Russian losses include at least 2,856 tanks, of which 1,886 were destroyed.

Russia lost 106 planes and 135 helicopters in the air.

But Moscow also suffered losses of 21 ships and submarines on the water.

It's not just tank losses for Russia that are high

According to several reports, Russia's naval forces in particular are under great pressure.

Some suggest that Putin may have already lost a third of his Black Sea fleet.

Because of this disastrous record, there has recently even been a change at the top of the Russian Navy.

The Russian army is apparently continuing to suffer heavy losses in terms of personnel.

There are no official figures from Russia, but the Ukrainian General Staff regularly publishes updates.

These numbers cannot be independently verified either.

However, it seems as if the daily losses of the Russian armed forces are decreasing from around 1,000.
