Saharan dust, temperature increases, followed by a cold front and then 25 degrees?
The weather at Easter is picking up speed in Franconia.
Nuremberg - At the weekend, the German Weather Service (DWD) warned of hail and thunderstorms in some regions, and there was even an onset of winter in the Bavarian Forest - and in Franconia?
Sahara dust in Franconia: up to 15 degrees possible
In the Regnitz region the sun will probably only shine intermittently on Monday, March 25th, the reason for this being layered clouds.
It remains dry, temperatures are around 10 degrees.
“On Tuesday, high clouds interspersed with Saharan dust will appear over the course of the day, which will increasingly obscure the sunlight.
But there is no precipitation,” reports weather expert Stefan Ochs (

The temperatures rise to 15 degrees, there are gusts of fresh wind blowing from the southeast.

Cold front brings rain to Franconia: temperatures are falling
According to Ochs, the sun will shine for a while on Wednesday morning, “before a cold front brings us light rain from midday onwards.
The initially very weak wind turns to the west and freshens up.” At the beginning the temperatures are up to 12 degrees, but in the course of the afternoon they drop to 7 degrees.
“The next front will affect us on Thursday and Good Friday.
Since the current turns south, it is weakened in the lee of the Alps (Föhn),” said the weather expert in his forecast for Franconia.
It is currently not clear whether this will ultimately lead to friendly weather with occasional sunshine or cloudy weather with rain.
A maximum of 12 to 18 degrees is reached.
Weather at Easter: “It’s possible in principle 25 degrees”
“From Holy Saturday to Easter Monday, warm air masses will flow to us from the Sahara.
In principle, 25 degrees is possible.
However, the forecasts from the University of Athens also show a massive advance of Saharan dust,” Ochs continued.
“If that happens, we will have little joy in the warm air because the sun's rays can hardly penetrate the resulting veil of clouds.”
