In “Kitchen Impossible”, Tim Mälzer and Matthias Diether had to compete, quite unusually, in the same place.

The latter was unable to shine in the first Baltic special.

A serious mistake even caused horror.

Tallinn – Usually, the competitors on the VOX cooking show “Kitchen Impossible” have to cook the dishes separately, usually in different countries.

In the current episode everything was different.

Tim Mälzer (53) and the Berlin professional chef Matthias Diether (49) stood in the same room in Tallinn, Estonia.

There were heated tempers and a serious mistake.

There are the usual heated dialogues with Tim Mälzer on “Kitchen Impossible”

TV chef Tim Mälzer is known to not mince his words in his cooking duels.

Under pressure, the Hamburg resident sometimes loses himself in tirades of abuse.

It's not for nothing that VOX producers display a warning at the beginning of the show: "If in the heat of the moment the choice of words suffers, we apologize."

In the episode of March 24, 2024, he faced equal competition with his Berlin colleague Matthias Diether - at least as far as the verbal exchange of blows is concerned.

Unfortunately, Diether cannot shine in the duel as one would expect from a star chef.

Matthias Diether has been running his restaurant “180 Degrees” in Tallinn, Estonia, since 2016, which has even been awarded two Michelin stars.

The challenge for “Kitchen Impossible” therefore took place in the Baltics, in the countries of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

Matthias Diether makes the first blunder in the single player and confuses Tim Mälzer with the Berlin chef Tim Raue (49).

This is immediately acknowledged by Mälzer when they both meet.

As they discover, they are very similar and are both “alpha animals”.

While Diether's “high-end roulade” is well received in Vilnius, Lithuania, Riga, Latvia, becomes a real problem for him.

Bad conditions for Tim Mälzer’s opponents in “Kitchen Impossible”

He is supposed to cook there with Tim Mälzer.

First of all, the location causes problems: Diether is supposed to cook at two different stations in a market hall.

“This is so stupid!

“I have to jump back and forth,” says the 49-year-old, annoyed.

In addition, market visitors are constantly watching through the glass kitchen.

But what makes him most nervous is Mälzer's presence: “Tim is a huge goofball.” Even when Mälzer comments loudly on his task a few meters away, Diether can't switch off and says: “Can I concentrate here?

You also think you’re there alone.”

He is supposed to bring the ingredients of the cold beetroot soup, which he tasted himself, onto the plates according to a traditional recipe, along with filled dumplings.

Diether believes in a home advantage.

But he then horrified the Latvian chef who gave the recipe with his alternative ingredients because he threw bouillon cubes into the soup: “It was a shock to me that he used bouillon cubes.

In principle, we do not use any artificial flavor enhancers.” The test eaters agreed that the soup is neither similar in color nor in taste to the original.

Unfortunately, the dumplings, “Khinkali”, are also not well received.

Instead of water, he uses eggs for the dough, which the surrounding Latvians don't think is a good idea from the start.

The assessment of the market visitors who tasted it: “A lot of coriander, not enough salt, not enough meat.” There was a lack of spiciness.

The star chef only received 4.2 points for the failed campaign.

At least the Latvian chef would like to use Diether's recipe for a borscht cream soup.

Mälzer's Latvian barley risotto is better received.

He was behind until the Riga station, but was able to score 6.1 points with his final performance and thus narrowly win the overall ranking.

Most recently, Tim Mälzer almost refused to accept a “Kitchen Impossible” challenge.
