A 63-year-old man was found charred in his farm in

Puerto Esperanza

, in Misiones, and the Police are trying to establish with certainty what his last hours were like.

Due to the characteristics of the incident, at first we worked on the hypothesis of

a crime linked to border businesses

, although other hypotheses are now not ruled out.

Mario César had left on Sunday at dusk towards a farm that is about five kilometers from his house, in the Northeast neighborhood of Puerto Esperanza.

His relatives said that it was common for him to get into his Chevrolet Prisma and go to check his hives, an undertaking that he started before retiring in a paper mill.

The man loaded his shotgun into the car, a situation that did not attract the attention of his family either.

His wife and children waited in vain for his return until the first minutes of Monday.

It was then that they decided to go out in search and went to the farm, where they initially found the car with the doors locked.

A few meters away

, a bonfire was still burning whose combustion had been accelerated with disused tires that Cesar used as a base for his hives.

A son managed to see some skeletal remains among the flames.

The young man believed he had heard strange noises coming from the neighboring mountain and pulled out a nine-millimeter caliber pistol from his waistband with which he fired several shots under the presumption that someone might be hiding.

Police sources said that the young man works in the security area of the same pastry where his father had worked and had the pistol legally registered.

Complaint and discovery

The family alerted the Police, who arrived at the scene with a team of experts, who rescued some bones of the skull and other parts of the body, from which biological material will be extracted for a DNA examination that will confirm what everyone knows: that they correspond to the retiree.

The victim's cell phone was found in the same place.

The device was seized for an expert report that will seek to determine her last contacts and movements.

Sources linked to the investigation said that

the motive for the robbery has already been ruled out

and there are no indications that the man had links to shady border businesses.

“He had no enemies, he had no debts, there is no motive that makes us suspect an execution,” said one of the investigators.

From the children's statements, data emerged that strengthened the hypothesis of suicide.

It was learned that Mario César was suffering from a terminal illness and the medical treatments had not given the expected results.

That is why it is now being investigated whether it was he himself who lit the bonfire and fired the shotgun.

The characteristics of the incident are similar to the crime of a young man from the neighboring town of Puerto Esperanza, who was executed and cremated next to the truck in which he used to deliver merchandise that was illegally entered from Paraguay.

Ariel Peña (32) had disappeared on December 28, 2024 when he left his house in a Chevrolet S10 truck.

His body was found almost a month later in the rural area of the town of Wanda: he had three shots in the skull and was burned along with the vehicle in a pine plantation.

Due to this fact, Justice ordered the capture of two suspects who have not yet been found.
