According to the group's announcement, the editions will be broadcast live by a team of announcers and editors recently recruited to the "Israel Hayom" system, and they will simultaneously work digitally, in the printed newspaper - and now also on the radio.

The editions of "News of Israel Today" will be broadcast, among others, on Radio Tel Aviv, Radio Haifa, Radio Darom and Radio 90FM - stations that have so far broadcast flashes of the Ynet site from the old competitor Yediot Ahronoth, which held the tender for the round-the-clock editions of the regional radio since January 2012 From the company's announcement

,

it is not clear whether at this stage Israel Hayom intends to produce additional independent radio content, but officials at the newspaper do not deny that the ambition is to expand. It is

not clear how much money Israel Hayom invested in the radio project, but it is estimated that it is at least millions of shekels .

The lesson from the failure of Yediot

The last attempt to establish a radio station by a journalistic organization was by Yedioth Ahronoth Group - an attempt that failed and collapsed in a short time.

In the news, during 2022, a digital radio venture under the brand "Radio Ynet" was launched, with the aim of taking a bite out of the advertising budgets of the regional radio stations, as well as those marketed by Shafa (Regional Advertising Services), which is considered the largest and strongest advertising sales body on the platform.

In the group they identified the relative inferiority in the face of the mergers created in recent years between print and digital and radio, as these were done in the Keshet News 12 and N12 podcast venture, as well as in the synergy between the Walla! website and Ma'ariv and Radio 103 which are under the same group.

According to estimates, Yedioth Ahronoth Group invested millions Shekels in a project that included new and invested studios. Advanced and embedded cameras were installed in the studios, which would broadcast live video, as well as podcast studios and studios for recording flashes. In addition, the group invested in a dedicated application for the project. Meanwhile, the group then tried to promote the cooperation between Radio 102 and ynet when the intention was to "enjoy" the news flashes of the radio, and to create a kind of program synergy.

However, Radio 102 was never considered a leading player in the current affairs field, and it was difficult to see the real added value derived from that synergy, apart from free content.

Only about nine months after its establishment, about 15 employees of the department, which numbered about 30 employees, were fired.

A few weeks ago, in the shadow of the cuts in the rest of the Yediot Ahronoth group's divisions, the group's radio project also officially closed its doors.
