Gérald Darmanin, sitting next to Prime Minister Gabriel Attal, this Wednesday morning during the government seminar on work, had a message to convey.
He who has always held his social right line, and who saw the RN rise in its northern lands, warned his colleagues of a risk of “Jospinization”.
“We can have a drop in unemployment but not be in the second round,” he said.
In 2002, Lionel Jospin was pleased with the economic record of his government, in charge for five years.
He was eliminated in the first round of the presidential election, overtaken by Jean-Marie Le Pen, candidate of the National Front.
The day after the announcement of a deficit much higher than forecast, at 5.5% of GDP for the year 2023, the executive knows he is expected to turn the corner.
“Results, results, results,” demanded Gabriel Attal on the TF1 news set just after his appointment to Matignon in January.
The day's seminar focused on three chapters, developed by the Minister of Labor, Health and Solidarity, Catherine Vautrin, and her colleague from Transformation and Public Service, Stanislas Guerini.
