In the future, handling on the apron of the capital's BER airport will be carried out with the support of artificial intelligence (AI).
Cameras at initially 16 parking positions for aircraft will monitor the handling processes in real time, as the Berlin-Brandenburg Airport Company (FBB) announced on Wednesday.
Airport manager Aletta von Massenbach presented the system to Federal Transport Minister Volker Wissing (FDP).
Schönefeld - All gates should be equipped accordingly over the course of the summer.
Self-learning software analyzes the processes using the image data.
In the event of delays or deviations, the program can trigger an alarm and provide the relevant operational employees with information on where things can run more efficiently, the FBB said.
The AI can gradually make better predictions about processes based on the data.
Handling on the apron includes loading the aircraft with luggage or catering or refueling.
The new system will be used to make up for delays in the future.
The implementation of the system was coordinated with the works councils, emphasized the managing director responsible for operations, Thomas Hoff Andersson.
