In Baltimore, a freighter crashed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge on Tuesday night (March 26).

Several people may have fallen into the cold water.

Baltimore – An impressive accident occurred in the eastern US state of Maryland on the night of March 26th.

A Singapore-flagged container ship sailing on the Patapsco River crashed into a pillar of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore.

Video footage shows how the bridge and the vehicles on it collapsed into the river as a result.

As US media reports, the cargo ship “Dali” belonging to the Synergy Marine Group is said to have collided with the bridge infrastructure at around 1:30 a.m. local time.

A map shows the exact location of the bridge drama accident.

Shortly afterwards, the first emergency calls were said to have been made.

The video shows most of the Francis Scott Key Bridge falling into the river immediately after contact with the container ship.

As a result of the collapse of the four-lane motorway bridge, at least 20 people are said to have fallen into the cold water.

Container ship had only been en route for 30 minutes when the bridge accident in Balitmore occurred

It was initially unclear how the freighter's potentially devastating impact occurred.

As well as the exact number of vehicles that were traveling on the 2.7 kilometer long bridge at the time of the accident.

However, there was probably at least one large semi-trailer truck and several construction workers on the building, which was completed in 1977.
