It was closed to visitors for over a year.
Lindau - Germany's southernmost lighthouse in Lindau opens its doors again after fire protection work.
On Wednesday, March 27th, the urban landmark located at the entrance to the port of Lindau will be open to visitors again, as Lindau Tourismus und Kongress GmbH (LTK) announced on Monday.
A test run is initially planned.
If everything goes according to plan, regular opening hours will come into effect from Friday.

The only lighthouse in Bavaria was closed for more than a year due to construction work for fire and occupational safety.
The coordination and execution of the work on the 36 meter high, listed lighthouse, which was built in 1856, was complex and time-consuming.

“I am very pleased that our landmark is back in operation just in time for the start of the season,” said Lindau’s mayor Claudia Alfons.
“Only if we operate the historic buildings will we be financially able to maintain their substance and restore them step by step,” added LTK managing director Carsten Holz.
“Visitors in Lindau should not only see beautiful facades, the buildings must also be accessible.”

To get to the observation deck, visitors must climb 139 steps.
There are platforms for breaks between the narrow wooden stairs on the five floors.
On the inner walls of the tower you can find old drawings, anecdotes and information about Lindau and Lake Constance.

The Lindau Tourism Company has also hired lighthouse keepers.
They are not only responsible for admission and ticket control, but are also expected to provide information about the history of the lighthouse.
You must also ensure that the maximum number of visitors is not exceeded of 25 people, as no more people are allowed in the lighthouse at the same time.
During the renovation, among other things, fire doors and a fire protection ceiling were installed in the room next to the cash register.
In addition, a fire alarm system, video surveillance, voice alarm, internet access for the cash register system and a visitor registration system were set up.
