The Ober- and Niederhummel fire brigade is well positioned: Florian scratch was elected as the new second commander, Kevin Talmon-Gros is taking over the position of youth officer.

Niederhummel

– Tension was in the air at the annual general meeting of the Ober- and Niederhummel fire brigade on Saturday evening: Although it was known that second commander Martin Würfl would be resigning from his position and that youth officer Florian scratch was ready as his successor, the big question was: who will he be? new youth warden?

The ten young people present had to wait around 90 minutes until the saving news came: Kevin Talmon-Gros will take on this task.

There was joy and relief among the young people, but also among district fire chief Manfred Danner and mayor Suanne Hoyer.

The successful youth work that has been carried out in Hummel for many years will now be continued.

Chairman Martin Wildgruber also knows that Florian Schieber has “done extraordinarily good youth work over the past six years,” as Susanne Hoyer praised.

“You always hear from the youth: You are the best youth officer there is.” Since taking office on October 1, 2017, Florian Schieber has recorded 4,297 hours of youth work.

What's more: He is also proud to see that some of his protégés - including Kevin Talmon-Gros - are now in responsible FFW positions.

So now Florian scratch takes over the office of second commander.

Martin Würfl, who took over the position in April 2018 due to a personnel emergency, will be retiring.

Commander Gerhard Kiermeier emphasized in his report that the fire department also did an excellent job: he recorded 46 missions last year - including 27 storm missions in August alone, when numerous cellars had to be pumped out.

“It was pretty confusing for us.” If you count the hours for exercises (607.5 hours), training (705), youth work (653) and the many other hours of work, you get a total of 3,845.5 hours, says Kiermeier.

Secretary Johannes Herold recalled 17 events in the past club year - including the sponsorship request with the Langenbach fire department, “which brought us together as a team,” and the popular lantern festival.

There are a number of festivals and events coming up again this year: For example, on June 29th, the Hummler fire department is organizing the flame run for the youth fire departments in the district.

“It will be a lot of work – we need support,” emphasized Gerhard Kiermeier.

The 140th anniversary will be celebrated one day later.

The festival will be unusual and, according to Wildgruber, “unique” on April 25th – the day the old Unimog, which was put into service by the armed forces in 1984, was registered.

From 7 p.m. “we'll have a beer on the Unimog,” announced the chairman.

The lantern festival takes place on June 8th.

Treasurer Andrea Heigl, who was elected last year, presented her first financial report.

Despite the slightly lower cash balance, the Hummel fire department is in a very good position, which auditor Andreas Gebele also confirmed.

“The cash register was perfectly managed,” he praised the “great cashier.”
