Evidence is seized during searches of apartments in the Starnberg and Dachau districts on suspicion of possession and distribution of child pornography.

In the fight against child pornography, several apartments in the Starnberg and Dachau districts were searched today under the leadership of the Fürstenfeldbruck Criminal Police Inspectorate.
Extensive evidence was secured.
Starnberg - Early this morning, twelve residential properties in the Starnberg and Dachau districts were searched.
Around 80 officers were on duty.
The Fürstenfeldbruck police were supported by riot police and the Bavarian State Criminal Police Office.
Child ponography: Evidence seized during apartment search in Starnberg
The execution of the judicial search warrants, which were issued at the request of the Bamberg Public Prosecutor's Office and the Munich II Public Prosecutor's Office, uncovered extensive evidence.
A total of around 80 data carriers - including mobile phones, tablets and hard drives - were seized as evidence, which now have to be painstakingly evaluated.

The suspects, aged 15 to 77, who were visited at home are suspected of possessing or distributing child pornography.
Two of the men encountered were processed for identification and subsequently released without further police action.
Of the twelve households searched, eleven are in the Dachau district and one in the Starnberg district.
Internet anonymity offers no protection to criminals
The aim of the campaign is to clearly show the suspects that criminals cannot hide in the supposed anonymity of the Internet.
Behind every case of child and youth pornography there are dramatic fates of the victims.
The police and judiciary will continue to work with all available means to stop criminals.
In order to be able to consistently and effectively counteract the crime phenomenon, a new special unit, the Center for Combating Child Pornography and Sexual Abuse on the Internet (ZKI), was set up at the Bamberg Public Prosecutor's Office in October 2020.
As of 2021, mere possession of child pornography is a criminal offense
In 2021, there was also a change in the law that made the mere possession of child pornography, for example child pornography photos on a cell phone, a criminal offense - to protect victims and increase law enforcement pressure.
This means that the possession of child pornography is a crime punishable by a prison sentence of no less than one year.
