Citroën is bringing back from oblivion the name “Basalt” used in the 1970s for a limited series of the GS.
This time, it is a special version but an entirely new car which marks the acceleration of the herringbone brand's offensive on emerging markets with high potential.
Basalt will thus be marketed this year in India and South America; Basalt is not intended to invest in the European market.
Citroën
Riding the current wave, this vehicle takes the form of an SUV mixed with a coupe.
Derived from the current C3 and the C3 Aircross presented last year for these same international markets, this SUV will take its place at the heart of the B segment. The production version will be very close to this concept which reinterprets the current codes of the brand .
We thus find the multi-level grille with a light signature in the shape of a spread V and trombone taillights encroaching on the wings.
The robustness of this SUV is expressed through wheel arches highlighted with a black plastic trim, front and rear bumpers and protected side sills.
Third stage of the C-Cubed program developed specifically for India and South America, the Basalt SUV to accommodate up to five people in a modern interior.
Citroën will lift the veil in the middle of the year on the Basalt engines which will be produced in India and South America.
