There is a shortage of foster parents in Mühldorf and the situation is dramatic.

District Administrator Heimerl has now started searching via social media.

Mühldorf am Inn – The shortage of skilled workers also has the education and care industry firmly in its grip.

Reports have recently been making the rounds that kindergartens in Upper Bavaria are struggling with a severe staff shortage.

Now an Instagram post by CSU district administrator Max Heimerl from Mühldorf am Inn is causing a stir: It's about the search for foster parents.

CSU district administrator is looking for foster parents via Instagram – post gets a lot of attention

“Please share and spread the word!” – this is how Max Heimerl’s Instagram post begins.

His declared goal: to attract foster parents to his Mühldorf am Inn district.

Specifically, the “foster child service team is looking for people who can take in a child – either for a short time (as on-call care) or permanently (as a foster family)”.

In Mühldorf am Inn people are desperately looking for foster parents.

CSU District Administrator Max Heimerl is also taking unconventional approaches - which are not well received by everyone.

In the post, Heimerl entices people with seemingly low hurdles and attractive framework conditions.

We are looking for families, couples and individuals, no special training is required and there is “financial compensation of up to 1,200 euros per month (tax-free)”.

Last but not least, the foster parents receive “professional guidance and professional support from the foster child service”.

The Instagram post also states for whom foster parents are currently being sought: a “2-year-old girl, a newborn and three other children of kindergarten and primary school age”.

Finally, there is information about the contact options.

Positive feedback on Instagram – but there is also criticism

Heimerl's privacy settings on Instagram hide exactly how many users have liked and commented on the post in total - but there are quite a few, that's clear.

The post has fulfilled its first mission: to attract attention.

The CSU district administrator also took the time to answer many of the questions and comments.

Most of the reports from users are currently positive.

A user wrote whether you had to come from the district, which Heimerl replied in the negative.

However, she then stated that she came from Mecklenburg - whereupon Heimerl wrote: "That's pretty far away, though." Many other users wrote that they would be happy to help, but unfortunately they lived too far away - the names of federal states from all over Germany include Hesse, Schleswig-Holstein and Saxony.

And the contribution actually seems to be successful.

One user complained that she had already written an email that had not yet been answered, whereupon Heimerl wrote: “We are very happy that we have received a lot of feedback.

Please have a little patience.

The staff will contact you.”

However, a few comments also contain cautious criticism - for example, that the financial incentive should not be the deciding factor in taking in a child, or that the hurdles for foster parents are not that low, which is a good thing.

The bottom line is that the Instagram post should prove to be a success for Heimerl if at least one child is placed with loving foster parents.

Especially for the child himself.
