Every heavy downpour, Michel Mombrun, 83, watches his garden.
And above all the state of the river which crosses it.
The watercourse, which gives real charm to the house bought by the retiree and his wife in 2010 in the village of Cerny (Essonne), has become a source of concern.
Regularly, during bad weather, it comes out of its bed and floods one of the town's old wash houses located on its property.
For Michel Mombrun, there is no doubt: it is a rainwater outlet in rue Véron – the road which runs alongside his garden – which is causing these disorders.
“Every time it rains, the water washes away all the junk it encounters on its way into the river,” he explains.
Before, here, we saw frogs and crayfish.
Everything has died since then.
The town hall has redone the sidewalks, which is very good, except that the water takes the gravel with it.
Little by little, this blocks the passage under the small concrete bridge which spans the street located in the immediate vicinity of our garden.
