The pent-up demand has calmed down again after the “renaissance” of travel agencies after the corona pandemic, reports Sabine Kuliga-Lenffer from the Holiday Land travel agency in Dorfen.
“It’s no longer as extreme as it was in 2023. It’s going back to normal,” she says.

Inflation is also making itself felt in the travel industry – travel has become more expensive
Inflation is also having an impact on the travel industry, says the expert.
“Logically, travel has become a little more expensive, but we are trying to find something cheaper for our customers.” The pent-up demand is no longer as pronounced, but “people are not put off by high prices.
“They want to travel,” confirms Michael Gilch, office manager at the TUI travel agency at Schrannenplatz in Erding.
The price increase is noticeable, explains Corinna Gunst from the travel studio in Erding, but: “People want to fulfill their dream goals.” Many customers are also planning for the long term.
“You want to have something to look forward to,” says Gunst.
“We are already booking cruise ships until 2025, and those who book too late will end up paying more.”
The range of travel wishes is huge, says Gunst: “From Alaska to Lapland to Helsinki in Finland and Canada.” Also swimming in the South Seas or a city trip.
Italy remains a classic, Croatia is in great demand because of its high-quality hotels.
Popular travel destinations: USA, Far East and Japan
This also applies to Greece and Turkey, reports Kuliga-Lenffer.
And: “A lot of cruises are also being booked.” The Far East is now being added to the traditional long-distance destination of the USA, reports Gilch: “Asia is now becoming cheaper again.
Japan is booming because it had strict entry requirements for a long time.” Tunisia is becoming attractive again for families because of its price-performance ratio.
Thailand too.
“There is no destination that has no demand,” says Gunst.

After Corona, the desire to travel has fully returned
Culture, adventure or relaxation – the motivation to travel has different reasons.
“Traveling has always been trendy.
It’s just important to people,” says Kuliga-Lenffer.
Everyone has their favorite destinations and everyone also has their own dream of traveling abroad.
“It’s so broad, and when we ask why people want to go there, most people answer that they’ve always wanted to go there,” says Gunst.
