Disney+ subscribers are the latest target of scammers.

They use fake emails to try to get personal information.

Munich – The streaming market in Germany is growing and growing, millions of people now watch films and series online.

In addition to the market leader Netflix, other providers have long been able to establish themselves, one of the largest being Disney+.

Hundreds of thousands of subscribers look forward to the highlights of Disney+, but scammers are also aware of this.

They are currently trying to misuse the streaming service for their fraudulent activities and to exploit their victims.

Therefore, caution is advised with current emails from Disney+.

Beware of scams: Disney+ in the sights of criminals

Fraudsters use emails as their preferred tool, so this year alone many people have been confronted with emails in which fraudsters pretended to be ING or Sparkasse.

The main goal of scammers is to obtain their victims' data.

In the worst case, they can cause significant financial damage.

As the consumer advice center reports in its phishing radar, fraudsters are currently using Disney+ for a similar fraud method.

Anyone who has received this email in the last few days had better be careful.

The scammers wrote in the email, among other things: “Unfortunately, we were unable to resolve your payment issue and your subscription has been cancelled.

We would of course be happy to welcome you again.

To do this, simply reactivate your subscription.” Below there is a button that says “Reactivate subscription”.

However, consumers should under no circumstances click on this button.

A few days ago, numerous people received a similar email in which they were informed about payment problems and clicking on the button was supposed to lead to logging into the account.

By clicking, criminals can gain access to consumers' personal information.

These can be used by fraudsters to misuse data.

To protect yourself from scammers' emails, it's best not to respond and instead move the emails to the spam folder or delete them directly.

Disney+ is not the only streaming service that fraudsters use for their schemes; a scam involving Netflix was also recently in circulation.
