Highlights: Groundbreaking ceremony for waterworks expansion in Uffing: community invests around 1.3 million euros. So far, the Uffinger waterworks, located just before entering the town on the right on Murnauer Strasse, has three wells that pump groundwater into a concrete suction tank. This dates back to the 1960s, so renovation was urgently needed. The community wants to keep construction costs as low as possible for the extension, which is why, for example, the community's own wood is used for the roof structure and wooden cladding.

The municipality of Uffing is budgeting 1.3 million euros for the expansion of the waterworks.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the project recently took place.

Uffing

– The sun shone brightly with the guests.

No wonder, because the official groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of the waterworks in Uffing was about to take place.

“This is a further step towards our 'generational water supply project', emphasized Mayor Andreas Weiß (independent).

“And we should have the motivation to do it just as well as our predecessors did a good 60 years ago, who had the foresight to lay the foundation stone for the existing building.” Representatives of the executing companies, engineering and structural engineering offices accepted the invitation , the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district office, town hall employees and local councilors.

So far, the Uffinger waterworks, located just before entering the town on the right on Murnauer Strasse, has three wells that pump groundwater into a concrete suction tank.

This dates back to the 1960s, so renovation was urgently needed.

Since the suction tank cannot be converted during ongoing operation, the local council voted in 2023 together with experts to build an extension.

This will hold two modern stainless steel containers with a capacity of 70 cubic meters of water, so that repairs, cleaning and maintenance can always be carried out alternately on one of the two containers in the future.

In addition, the energy supply to the waterworks will be renewed and coupled with a PV system.

The community wants to keep construction costs as low as possible for the extension, which is why, for example, the community's own wood is used for the roof structure and wooden cladding.

1.3 million euros are budgeted for the entire measure, completion is planned for mid-2025, although this project is only the start and prerequisite for further planned steps regarding water supply.

These include: new construction of a connection pipeline with Seehausen, replacement of the elevated tank on the Sonnenstein, renovation of the pumping station in the hamlet of Luketsried.

After all, the community of Uffing has now grown to over 3,000 residents.

Weiß emphasized how much he was looking forward to good cooperation between all those involved and therefore invited everyone to a white sausage breakfast.

His wish: lively exchange and the development of networks that are needed for the success of the construction site.
