Popular excursion destination: The Hörnle and its hut have a magnetic effect and attract numerous guests.

It's a game of patience for Hörnle lovers.
It remains to be seen when they will be able to return to the hut on Bad Kohlgrub's local mountain after the old tenants have said goodbye.
The DAV section hopes that this will happen by the middle of the year.

The summer season usually doesn't start until May.
So it will take a while before it is possible to stop off again.
In Bad Kohlgrub you might even need a little more patience.
When will the popular Hörnlehütte open again?
Sometimes there is a question mark behind this.
“By the middle of the year,” says Karlheinz Wiendl, “it could happen.” At least that’s what the hut officer for the responsible DAV Starnberg section hopes.
Because up there at 1,390 meters above sea level there is homework to be done by the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district office.
The hut, which is over 110 years old, has been closed since March 18th.
Wiendl saw sad faces when he put up the corresponding sign.
For some Ammertal residents, the excursion destination is considered a second living room.
But last year the section was confronted with a new requirement by the district authorities.
Due to an order for fire safety reasons, the hut must be brought up to date in terms of construction and systems, according to a press release.
This affects the overnight stay sector in terms of escape routes, Wiendl adds in response to Tagblatt's query.
A new fire alarm center is also needed.
It is still unclear when the work will start.
Before that, another question needs to be clarified.
Because the section is in contact with a planning office.
This has already made a proposal.
The catch: Implementing this “costs a lot,” emphasizes the hut speaker, without wanting to give a specific figure.
That’s why “we have to look at how we can finance it”.

In addition, attention is paid to the indoor and outdoor areas.
Renovation measures are due.
For example, the tiled stoves are being renovated and the power supply (cables) are being upgraded.

With the closure on March 18th, Franziska and Josef Schwinghammer said goodbye as tenants.
On the hut homepage, the couple once again addresses their guests.
“We just say thank you.
“It was an incredibly wonderful time,” they wrote.
The section, which was surprised by their withdrawal last year, honored their work in the press release.
It is not yet clear who will be hosting visitors in the future.
Like many things.
“Everything is still in limbo,” says Wiendl in general terms.
He only reveals this much: When it comes to Hörnlehütte, he has to bring all the parties involved together and do justice to their interests.
But despite all challenges, confidence reigns: “I am confident that we will find a good solution.” And sooner rather than later.

The Hörnle suspension railway will be in operation during the Easter holidays until Sunday, April 7th, weather permitting.
The overhaul work will then continue and the railway will be shut down until the end of April.
