Jesus actor Ben Blümel in “The Passion” has left the church himself.
He is still a believer.
But the role worries him for another reason.
Kassel – “The Passion” comes back to television on the Wednesday before Easter, March 27th.
The live telling of the Easter story, which will be performed again in Kassel this year, once again features a star cast.
The role of Jesus is played by Ben Blümel (42).
The strange thing about it: Ben himself has left the church.
Ben Blümel: Left the church - discrepancy between idea and reality
Ben Blümel will play the role of Jesus in “The Passion”.
That's fitting, because the actor and singer is a believer himself and sees Jesus as a role model, as he now revealed to

: "He taught me to love my neighbors.
A little less egoism in society never hurts.” He himself grew up Catholic, was even an altar boy as a child and the faith is firmly rooted in him.
Ben therefore finds the “idea” of the church “actually beautiful”.
What bothers him is the practice: “I reach my limits with the church construct.” That’s why the star left the church in 2023.
But that hasn't changed his faith.
He added: “I believe in God.
And I can also believe in God even though I’m no longer in church.”
Ben Blümel is worried about his pounds: Jesus was definitely thinner
The fact that he is no longer in the church is not a conflict of interest for Ben Blümel in his portrayal of Jesus.
What he worries about instead: his extra kilos.
“I am 1.81 meters and weigh 92 kilos.
I have a small plump and am a little fat.”
He is therefore afraid of ridiculing the role because Jesus was certainly thinner.
“Compared to me, Jesus was a model.” “The Passion” will be shown on RTL on Wednesday, March 27th at 8:15 p.m.
By the way: A No Angel plays Mother Maria in the production.
