The route up the Plattberg is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful spring hiking tours in the Alps.
With its breathtaking panorama and a varied route, it offers hikers an unforgettable experience.
The Plattberg, also known as Hochschrutte or Blattberg, rises majestically in the Ammergau Alps and offers hikers one of the most impressive hiking tours in spring.
The tour starts in the picturesque village of Lähn in the Tyrolean Ausserfern and leads through the idyllic Wiestal along the rushing Moosbach.
The destination, the large summit cross, can be clearly seen from below.
The climb to Plattberg
The ascent initially takes place along a forest road, which offers a pleasant break before continuing steeply over the ridge of the Farenegg.
On the way you pass wide meadow ridges where cows, sheep and Haflingers frolic in the alpine season.
The panorama along the way is breathtaking, with the Mieming Mountains to the southeast and the Lechtal Alps to the south.
Once you reach the summit ridge, you will be rewarded with a 360-degree panorama.
The central Ammergau Alps stretch to the north, the Zugspitze massif rises to the east and the Mieming Mountains stretch to the Allgäu peaks in the south.
Below the summit lies the deep blue Tyrolean Plansee, which offers a picturesque view.

The descent takes place along the ascent path and later on a knee-friendly forest road towards the east.
A detour to the Bichlbacher Alm with its beautiful viewing terrace is recommended before the return route leads along a small road and a pleasant forest path to Lähn.
The Plattberg: A mountain with history
The Plattberg is not only impressive in terms of landscape, but also rich in history.
The village of Lähn got its name because of the danger of avalanches that the Plattberg mountain with its long flanks brought with it.
Today, hills and earthworks are hardly recognizable as protective measures.
