The site of the former air base has potential for the region's economy - there is agreement on this in the district.
But there is a big but.
Fürstenfeldbruck – Too much bureaucracy, unclear responsibilities and long approval procedures are slowing down the rapid and innovative development of the area.
This became clear at the most recent meeting of the IHK Fürstenfeldbruck regional committee, as stated in a statement.
The guest was Karl-Heinz Jansen from European Radiopharmacy Technologies, who with his company and partners would like to build a center of excellence for radiopharmaceuticals in the field of oncology with the Biodrom on the runway of the air base.
The project development and the special-purpose association are currently waiting for the state government to release the property, says Jansen.
Approval process
He expects production to begin in 2027 and 2028 at the earliest. There are major difficulties due to lengthy approval procedures and official processes.
The members of the regional committee rated the plans as a great opportunity.
One entrepreneur criticized the fact that the bureaucratic procedures were a real brake on innovative ideas.
“We can’t let bureaucracy get in our own way.”
Michael Steinbauer, chairman of the IHK regional committee, emphasizes: “If we open the area of the former air base to innovative ideas and projects and create a haven for future technologies there, we will strengthen the economy in the district and the supra-regional business location.” This requires more cooperation – from authorities, municipalities and politics, but also between companies, research institutions and start-ups.
