This Saturday, March 30*, a magic gala is organized in Rambouillet (Yvelines), in partnership with the local committee of Friends of the Gendarmerie, the Magiciens du coeur association and the national gendarmerie.

Half of the profits will be donated to the Magiciens du coeur, who work voluntarily in Île-de-France hospitals, at the bedside of sick children.

This association, based in Yvelines, also offers magic lessons in its school, located in the old post office of Galluis, a village near Montfort-l'Amaury.

This gala is the third operation led by the recent local committee of Friends of the Gendarmerie.

The association, intended “to raise awareness of the gendarmerie and promote its values”, was born in 2021, but its start-up was slowed down by the health crisis.

The police are not just there for fines

“The general public mainly knows the gendarmes for fines, which is obviously a more than reductive vision,” comments Thierry Villette, president of the local committee.

He is “not a police officer at all” but has always been involved in volunteering, particularly with Rotary and for the Telethon.

“I like justice and serious people.

When I was asked if I wanted to create a committee for the gendarmes, I did not hesitate,” he summarizes.

In 2022, the association launched its first “Christmas Cards” operation.

Seventy cards made by schoolchildren from Orgerus, near Rambouillet, were sent to gendarmes then on a three-month mission in Nouméa (New Caledonia).

Last Christmas, the same initiative was renewed, aimed at French gendarmes stationed in European embassies.
