The KJR Dachau is planning a festival for young people at Lake Karlsfelder on May 18th.

Young people from the Dachau district are not only invited as guests, but can also take part in advance.

Dachau/Karlsfeld – Five-Seven Festival: This is the name of the event that the KJR Dachau is planning on May 18th at the youth center on Lake Karlsfelder for teenagers and young adults between the ages of 13 and 27.

Five-seven.

The last two digits of Karlsfeld's postal code.

The festival is not only aimed at Karlsfeld residents, but at all young people from the Dachau district, emphasizes Anna Bauregger from the KJR.

Together with Ludwig Gasteiger, she is one of the initiators of the project.

“We want to create cultural offerings for young people and involve them in them,” says Bauregger.

The cry for youth culture is particularly loud in the community of Karlsfeld.

As reported, many young people would like more meeting places there, including a skate place.

After the municipal administration was no longer able to handle youth work for staffing reasons, the KJR took over responsibility for youth work at the beginning of this year.

Festival for young people by young people at Lake Karlsfelder

Bauregger and her team have big plans.

“We want to start youth work with a big bang,” she says.

There will be two stages at the festival.

A paid one in the parking lot at the youth center where professional rap and pop artists play.

And a second stage is planned in the garden of the youth center.

It should be free of charge.

Young, local and aspiring bands, DJs or sports groups should be able to apply for a performance.

“We want to turn the area around the youth center into a play area for young people and their ideas,” says Bauregger.

Participate

The KJR is looking for other

young people and clubs

who want to help.

Bands

who want to perform and

young people

who agree to show off their talent and teach others in workshops how to breakdance, DJ, make bracelets, make Tik-Tok videos or braid braids.

Young adolescents should not only have the opportunity to stand on stage or be guests at a festival that is completely tailored to them, but the initiators are also concerned with something else.

“We want to organize the festival in such a way that as many young people as possible take part and have a say,” explains Bauregger.

Anyone can join depending on their interests.

The event team currently consists of 20 helpers.

These are Dachau and Karlsfeld youth councils, chairmen of the district youth group and the round table against racism.

“Cool to see what the festival looks like from the other side”

Tommie Ulrich is also involved in the festival preparations.

The 17-year-old has been on the Karlsfeld Youth Council since this year.

“It’s cool to see what a festival looks like from the other side,” he says.

For example, the young people take care of public relations on social media and inquiring about bands.

“It surprised me,” he reports, “how much effort it takes and what artists want.”

For example a hotel room.

But this is not possible for cost reasons, as Tommie Ulrich now knows.

The festival is not a commercial event, emphasizes Bauregger.

“We don’t want to make money with it, but rather give young people the opportunity to get a taste of festival planning.”

“Wants to learn how to cooperate with higher authorities”

Jule Lenz is also one of the volunteers.

The woman from Dachau is in the KJR circus team and really enjoys planning the festival.

The 18-year-old says she finds it particularly interesting how to create a site plan and a security concept.

And: “I want to learn how to cooperate with higher authorities.”

We want young people to take on more and more tasks themselves.

Initiator Anna Bauregger from KJR

It's not just about organizing a party, explains initiator Bauregger.

The person primarily responsible believes that the project is “an important thing” to see how people can participate democratically.

“We want young people to take on more and more tasks themselves.” This also includes submitting funding applications or presenting the project to the city or community.

KJR wants to motivate young people to get involved

Young people in particular should be motivated again to get involved in society.

Because of the corona pandemic, not so many young people are volunteering in clubs anymore, says Bauregger.

She hopes that many young people can become enthusiastic about the project in the long term.

The festival will now take place once a year.

Bauregger hopes that the event will strike a chord with young people.

“It should be a total work of art that makes youth culture visible and presents it positively.”
