The Bundeswehr location in Pöcking/Feldafing is becoming even more important as a nationwide training center.
The areas of electronic warfare and intelligence are added.
During the founding act it became clear: behind this lies the aim of having to become “digitally capable of war”.
Pöcking - The two buses of the Ulm Army Music Corps in front of the Pöckingen General Fellgiebel barracks indicated on Tuesday afternoon that a major act was imminent: nothing less than the dissolution of the Bundeswehr's information technology school and the simultaneous re-establishment of the Cyber Information Space Training Center (CIR ).
The setting: a roll call with 200 soldiers, 80 (honored) guests, lots of marching music and the ceremonial changing of the ribbon on the troop flag.
But it's not just the lettering on the barracks and the coat of arms that are changing at the Bundeswehr on Lake Starnberg.
Behind this lies a restructuring that has been prepared for years.
It is intended to ensure that the German armed forces become “war-ready” with regard to digitalization.
From a geographical perspective, the reform has a funny punch line: the Pöcking and Feldafing locations are merging with the School for Strategic Enlightenment.
It is about 1000 kilometers north - in Flensburg.
The Bundeswehr brings together training nationwide.
Pöcking and Feldafing will become the armed forces' central educational institution for information technology, electronic warfare and military communications.
Flensburg becomes a “branch office”.
Instead of the previous 7,000 graduates per year, 11,000 managers and IT experts are to be trained in the future - in eavesdropping, disrupting, deceiving and communicating under the most difficult conditions.
Among the guests were (from right) District Administrator Stefan Frey, Prince Christoph of Bavaria and SPD member of the Bundestag Carmen Wegge.

Major General Dr.
Michael Färber, who, as department head, is responsible for planning in the CIR and the digitalization of the Bundeswehr.
He also pointed out that not all positions in Pöcking and Feldafing have been filled.
Brigadier General Rainer Simon, head of the site, recently reported in the Starnberger Merkur that 15 percent of the positions were not filled.
Färber explained that the trainers would therefore be relieved of organizational tasks in the future.
There are currently a few good people missing in Pöcking and Feldafing who were assigned to train Ukrainian soldiers.
When asked, press spokesman Herbert Singer gave a “low double-digit number”.
Vice Admiral Dr.
Thomas Daum, inspector of the CIR unit: “There is a danger of war on NATO’s eastern flank,” he said, referring to the intentions of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The world is falling into disarray.
The CIR organizational area must therefore also be “fit for national and alliance defense”.
“We are responsible for ensuring that the Bundeswehr becomes digitally combat-ready.” With regard to on-site training, Daum said: “Nobody can rely on the knowledge they have learned all at once.” It is important to “stay up to date,” especially when it comes to digital topics.
General Simon had previously been relieved of his duties and shortly afterwards was appointed head of the new training center.
One of several official acts that began with the ceremonial entry of the soldiers with a band and a troop flag.
Many commands were called across the large square until the ceremony ended with the Bavarian and German national anthems.
She was followed by guests of honor such as Prince Christoph of Bavaria, Prof. Eva-Maria Kern, President of the Munich Bundeswehr University, SPD member of the Bundestag Carmen Wegge, District Administrator Stefan Frey and the mayors of Pöcking, Feldafing and Tutzing.
