The forecasts for next year's Jubilee and the 2026 Winter Olympics confirm the growth trend of tourism in Italy.
For the Jubilee, 35 million tourist arrivals are expected, which will generate 105 million presences, with an expected doubling of flows for a tourist expenditure of 16.7 billion euros.
For the Milan-Cortina Olympics, 513 thousand arrivals are expected, +34% compared to the same period in 2023, for 1.8 million presences and a tourist expenditure of 281 million euros.
But according to some Isnart estimates based on Istat, Location Intelligence and AirDna data, an overbooking risk emerges for both events: the risk is "very high" for the Jubilee.
The alarm emerges on the occasion of the Third National Tourism Day, on the occasion of the discussion on the evolution of tourism in Italy in the last year and the great challenge represented by the Jubilee 2025 and the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics organized today in Rome , by Unioncamere and the National Tourist Research Institute, Isnart.
"In consideration of the 400 thousand beds of current accommodation capacity which already today present an average annual occupancy rate of 66%" the risk of overbooking for the Jubilee is considered very high and is instead "probable" for Milan-Cortina, considering "the current 250 thousand beds with an average occupancy rate in the period of 63%, partially mitigated by the fact that the greater presences will be distributed over a larger territory".
