Four men – Tony, 39, Nicolas, 34, Marcel, 35, and his father George, 63 – were tried by the Paris criminal court on Tuesday for thefts committed between December 2018 and May 2019. well-established scenario: the entry on the scene of a fake plumber followed by fake police officers, leading to the theft of jewelry and money from the victims' homes.
This saga, marked by eight thefts in total, left residents aged 83 to 96 traumatized and distraught.
The modus operandi is the same everywhere.
A fake plumber enters an apartment explaining that he has to check the water, indicating that it is “not drinkable”, that “the pipes are pierced”.
The victim opens his door to him.
In the apartment, the plumber runs the tap in the bathroom, the kitchen... A few minutes later, two men dressed as police officers enter the apartment, brandishing a police card.
They explain that they are investigating a fake, thieving plumber who is going around the neighborhood.
