At 26, the Briton has given up on the Paris Olympic Games and a potential double.
In 2021, Matty Lee won gold in Tokyo, in the 10m synchronized diving, alongside his compatriot Tom Daley.
Having undergone spinal surgery, he announced this Wednesday his absence from France next summer.
“A week ago, I underwent a discectomy of the L5/S1 disc in my spine,” explained the Olympic champion.
My surgeon told me that the situation would not have improved on its own and therefore the operation was the right decision.
