Stellantis on Wednesday unveiledanother 1,087 redundancies at five Italian plants bringing to3,597 the number of jobs to be shed under a new framework accordwith unions.
The head of a union that refused to sign the deal, FIOM, SamueleLodi, said the moves showed that "Stellantis's plan of industrial divestiture from Italy is ever clearer, disguised by the need to address the (ecological) transition".
The fresh job losses by the Italo-Franci-US carmaker, which has repeatedly vowed its commitment to its Italian plants, will take place in its factories at Melfi, Pomigliano d'Arco, Termoli, Cento (Ferrara) and Verrone (Biella).
