More than 300 people will be mobilized this Wednesday evening for a large-scale exercise on the theme of “attack” at Nice Côte d'Azur airport (Alpes-Maritimes).
In Terminal 1, the terminal for international flights, a terrorist attack will be simulated so that security forces and emergency services can train how to react to such a situation.
The exercise will begin at 11 p.m. and end at 2:50 a.m., warned the Maralpine prefecture in a press release.
She specifies that this sequence
“is part of the operational preparation for the Olympic and Paralympic Games”
and that the objective is to
“test the coordination of all the services involved”
.
Nice airport is the third French airport behind those of Paris in terms of attendance, with nearly 12 million passengers.
This summer, many visitors are expected in connection with the Olympic football matches, which will take place in Nice, but also for the end of the Tour de France.
Nearly a hundred people will play the victims, who will be taken care of by the firefighters, the Samu, and approved civil security associations.
The police, customs and mine clearance services will be activated at the same time.
Terminal 1 closed
“T1” at Nice airport will be closed from 10:30 p.m. until 4 a.m.
Five international flights in the evening will branch off to terminal 2. The tram will continue to serve terminal 2 but no longer 1 from 10:05 p.m.
The bus station will also be temporarily moved near “T2”.
The prefecture advises avoiding the area in the evening so as to
“not interfere with the smooth running of operations and interventions”

“not to clutter”
the various telephone authorities with calls and, above all, not to relay false rumors on social networks.
It is therefore forbidden to take photos and videos of this exercise.
