The talks between Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Justice Minister Yariv Levin and the heads of the ultra-Orthodox factions reached an impasse today (Wednesday) - the government will not meet soon to advance a decision on the exemption of ultra-orthedim who "teach their art" from enlisting in the IDF, and it seems that there will be no escape from a legal decision.
Officials in the government said last night that the possibility of requesting an extension from the High Court until the submission of the state's answer is being considered, but the ultra-orthodox parties believe that there is no point in this, at least regarding the petition for the funding of the yeshiva, where the judges made it clear that they would make a decision in any case, in the absence of the state's answer.
Advocate Beharev Miara is not interested in submitting a request for an extension to the High Court until today at midnight, so at the moment the obvious solution is for the Secretary of the Government, Attorney Yossi Fox, to submit the request on behalf of the state. Such a step on the part of the government is equivalent to taking private legal representation.
It is estimated that the talks will resume with the ultra-Orthodox in the afternoon or early evening, but so far the parties do not have a solution that will be able to provide an answer immediately by midnight tonight, the last date that the state has to submit its answer.
The parties do not have a solution that can provide an immediate response until the deadline for the submission of the state's answer.

Prime Minister Netanyahu told the ultra-Orthodox yesterday that he would take care of "a solution to every problem" when they expressed concern about ending the yeshiva and kollel budgeting, but it is doubtful whether he will be able to bypass the High Court in light of the public criticism that has been heard against the initiative to exempt the ultra-Orthodox, especially after the events of October 7. Meanwhile, the government has decided By choosing not to take further steps to resolve the crisis.
