Legal Adviser to the Government Gali Beharev Miara responded today (Wednesday) to the letter sent by the Secretary of the Government Yossi Fox regarding the recruitment outline. And in it, Fox accused the legal advice to the government and the Ministry of Defense of tripping up the Yeshiva and passing the decision on the matter.

"Unfortunately, during the conversation we had, we discovered that the decision-makers' proposal that you formulated is not based on a minimal professional infrastructure. We were not presented with any opinions or documents that would show how the government intends to formulate an arrangement that will lead to increased equality in the burden of the service," wrote Beharev Miara. The ombudsman's letter was sent an hour and a half before the deadline for submitting the state's response to the High Court.

In the letter sent by Fox today, entitled "The chain of events regarding the amendment of the decision regarding the conscription law", Fox recounts at length the consultations that took place in the last months, weeks and days regarding the outline of the conscription exemption, and writes that "the vault door for approving a decision on conscription in the government has been locked by the legal counsel to the government and there is no Key, because from a technical point of view it is not possible to get the professional infrastructure from the Ministry of Defense." In the letter, Fox accused the legal counsel to the government and the Ministry of Defense of dragging their feet and the fact that the government did not advance any decision on the issue, even though tonight is the deadline for submitting the state's response to the petitions discussed in the High Court against not recruiting ultra-Orthodox and in favor of stopping government funding for the meetings.

Fox refers to the decision of Defense Minister Yoav Gallant ordered the professional teams at the Ministry of Defense not to cooperate with the drafting of the government's decision, which he does not support, and says that because of this it was impossible to get the professional infrastructure they requested in the legal advice to the government to support the proposed version. "It was rejected by them" and he adds that "up to this stage, the legal advice to the government has not pointed out a fundamental problem or at all that exists in the proposal of the decision-makers and has not raised a 'black flag' in relation to the proposal of the decision-makers."
