But what is the boy who sold his smile actually doing today?

Munich – Thomas Ohrner (58) celebrated his breakthrough with “Timm Thaler” at the tender age of 14.

In the ZDF multi-part series he played the eponymous protagonist “Timm Thaler”.

The role of the boy who sold his laughter and wanted to get it back made him a child star overnight.

Things then continued successfully for Thomas Ohrner.

After “Timm Thaler”: Thomas Ohrner impressed as a series actor

Thomas Ohrner's acting career began before “Timm Thaler”.

Even as a baby, he appeared in front of the camera for numerous commercials - including for detergent and margarine.

In 1970, when he was just four years old, he took on his first film role in “Hurray, Our Parents Are Not Here”.

He then made other comedies, children's series and films.

In 1979 he had his breakthrough with “Timm Thaler”, the first ZDF Christmas series.

After that, things continued with similar success.

From the end of the 1990s, Thomas Ohrner appeared in various series - including the ARD evening series "The Happy Family" with Maria Schell (†79) and Siegfried Rauch (†86).

From 2008 he took on the role of Matthias Brandner in the RTL soap “Forbidden Love”.

He also established himself as a presenter.

From 1993, Thomas Ohrner moderated “Herzschlägen”, an offshoot of the dating show “Herzblatt” for young people, “Let yourself be surprised” and “The Hidden Camera”.

In 2001 he moved to the private broadcaster Kabel Eins, where, among other things, he took over the family guessing show “Dingsda”.

In the same year he moderated a program on ZDF Fernsehengarten.

In 2016 he was back in action for “Herzblatt” and presented the spin-off “Herz sucht Liebe” on Sat.1 Gold.

A year later, Thomas Ohrner took over the infotainment magazine “Wunderwelt Wissen” and was briefly head of entertainment at Antenne Bayern.

In 2017 he was seen in a supporting role in the remake of “Timm Thaler”, playing a porter and even has a short scene with the new “Timm Thaler” (played by Arved Friese).

Thomas Ohrner has been at Klassik Radio since 2018 and also moderates there.

Thomas Ohrner is married and has four children.
