With parents who were Doberman breeders, Lise Durlot always lived with dogs until becoming a breeder herself.
But since 1993, in Tourville-la-Campagne, near Neubourg, in Eure, it is for the Basenji that she has developed a passion with her husband.
“A primitive dog from the Congo, traces of which can be found on Egyptian tombs.
He is of medium size, with short hair, he does not smell even when wet and above all he does not bark without being mute.
» And she is convinced, the climate of Eure creates champions: her breeding saw Sparrow become the best dog of all breeds during the Best in Show in 2015.
Qualities confirmed at the last International Agricultural Show in Paris where Normandy placed a male and a female in second place in group 5 reserved for Nordic and primitive dogs.
But these have a particularity which makes the feat even more moving: they are authentic refugees from the war in Ukraine.
“In February 2022, when it started, it shocked me,” says Lise Durlot.
Immediately via a Facebook page on Basenji in Ukraine, I affirmed my desire to help breeders in addition to sending equipment and food.
