More nuisance for the neighbors of Lyon station?

This week, residents who live very close to the train station in the 12th arrondissement may have heard unusual sounds at night.

In fact, this week, sound tests are being carried out in the middle of the night at the Paris station.

“These are mandatory tests planned as part of the accessibility work carried out on the sound system on the platforms in hall 2 of Lyon station,” the SNCF Gares & Connexions teams tell us.

These tests must take place at night, outside of any presence of travelers at the station.

The first tests were carried out during the night from Monday to Tuesday as well as last night.

And continue during the night of Wednesday March 27 to Thursday March 28, from Thursday March 28 to Friday March 29 and finally from Tuesday April 2 to Wednesday April 3.

During this last night, a “loop from 10:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.” will be broadcast, specifies the local town hall on X.

SNCF Gares & Connexions “informed the town hall of the 12th arrondissement of the organization of these tests and the possible noise pollution that they could represent for residents of Place Henri Frenay”.

This did not fail to provoke a reaction from local residents, like this Internet user: “Between the food distributions, the homeless, etc., it’s unbearable,” he comments.

For many years, neighbors of Lyon station have denounced “hell”.

The work is far from complete at Lyon station.

Several major milestones are on the calendar for the coming years.

“The renovation of the historic heritage of Lyon station will continue in 2025,” explains SNCF, “initially with the renovation of the historic facade and the canopy.

Next will come the renovation of the large passenger hall which covers part of the tracks.
