Shortly before the holidays, things are getting really uncomfortable in Bavaria: strong hurricane gusts are sweeping across the Free State. The German Weather Service warns of dangers.
Munich - slippery ice, frost, storms and even severe hurricane gusts - the German Weather Service (DWD) has now issued a warning for the weather in Bavaria for all these capricious weather conditions. On Thursday afternoon, March 28th, it will be really uncomfortable in many parts of Bavaria until late in the evening. “On the back of a cold front, air of subpolar origin flows into Bavaria,” explain the weather experts from the DWD. “Their layering is partly unstable. On Friday, March 29th, the current will turn south, a warm front will become active in Franconia, and strong foehn will blow in the Alps.”
Weather in Bavaria: DWD warns of a difficult situation: “Danger to life and limb”
What this means specifically for the weather in Bavaria: “Danger to life and limb from falling trees, high-voltage lines and scaffolding, falling branches, roof tiles and other larger objects,” the meteorologists explain. Stronger squalls are expected in many places as early as Thursday evening, March 28th. Occasional thunderstorms.
“Up to 60 km/h from southwest to west, in exposed locations and near showers, stormy gusts up to 75 km/h, above 800 meters up to 80 km/h.” Caution is advised, especially in the southern part of Bavaria. Stronger gusts may occur in the foothills of the Alps. In ridge areas, especially in the west, the DWD even expects hurricane-like gusts with wind speeds of up to 110 km/h.

Dangerous weather conditions in Bavaria: DWD warns – be careful in traffic too
The DWD advises everyone not to spend time outdoors in the dangerous weather conditions in Bavaria and to adapt their behavior in traffic accordingly. In addition, one should also expect obstructions on traffic routes due to falling branches or falling trees and plan for these accordingly. If there is enough time, outdoor items should also be secured or dismantled.
