“There, we really see what they are doing…” Helmet on his head and fluorescent bib on his back, Adam, 14, has just visited the Cemex site at the port of Gennevilliers. With nine other students from Pasteur and Guy-Môquet colleges, the teenager is taking part in the “discovery week of businesses in the port of Gennevilliers”. This initiative, which is the first of its kind, is organized by the Seine aval port community (CPSA).
“This operation is mainly aimed at students who have dropped out or who have not found a 3rd year internship,” explains Gildas Monjoin, general delegate of the CPSA. Last fall, the CPSA and the managers of the three Gennevilliers colleges — Édouard-Vaillant, Guy-Môquet and Pasteur — worked on this formula: the 3rd year internship will allow students to discover several companies, and not just one. In addition, the port has all the advantages: numerous, varied professions accessible to all. Finally, only Guy-Môquet and Pasteur participated in the initiative with a group of ten middle school students.
