Garching an der Alz - Late on Wednesday evening, March 27, 2024, a serious accident occurred in Bavaria, in which an 18-year-old scooter driver crashed into a truck parked on the side of the road. The young man suffered such serious injuries that he died in a hospital that same night. His 19-year-old passenger was also seriously injured and is being treated in a hospital. The Altötting police station has started the investigation under the direction of the public prosecutor's office and is being supported by an expert.
Serious accident in the Altötting district – scooter driver crashes into truck
The 18-year-old from the Altötting district was traveling southwest on Frank-Caro-Straße in Garching an der Alz on a Yamaha motor scooter around 11:20 p.m. A 19-year-old from the same district accompanied him as a passenger.
For reasons that are not yet clear, the scooter driver crashed his vehicle into the rear of an unoccupied truck parked on the side of the road. Due to the force of the impact, the driver and the scooter were trapped under the rear of the truck, while his passenger was thrown from the scooter. The driver died of his serious injuries in the Altötting Innklinikum on the night of the accident. The passenger is also being treated at the Altötting Innklinikum. The damage caused to both vehicles amounts to around 3,000 euros.

In addition to two ambulances and an emergency doctor, the Garching an der Alz and Wald fire departments were also on site with 30 emergency services. Frank-Caro-Straße had to be completely closed for several hours while the accident was being investigated.
