What if the much sought-after successor to PSA (now Stellantis) in Aulnay-sous-Bois (Seine-Saint-Denis) was PSG? A single letter and a world separate these two brands. The first was a flagship of the automobile industry, which still attracted 3,000 workers to its factory in the north of the town before the announcement of its closure in 2012. That same year, the second passed entirely under the Qatari flag. A little death on one side, a second birth on the other. In a twist of fate, these two stories are today likely to collide.
On February 13, the mayor of Aulnay-sous-Bois Bruno Beschizza (LR) announced that his city was “ready to welcome Paris-Saint-Germain”. A few days earlier, the president of the Île-de-France regional council Valérie Pécresse (LR) called on elected officials from the Ile-de-France region to identify the land reserves on which the capital club could build its future stadium. At odds with Anne Hidalgo (PS), PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi intends to “move from the Parc des Princes” due to the refusal of the mayor of Paris to cede the sports venue to him.
