No “Let’s Dance” star inspires those around him like Tony Bauer. In a touching interview he talks about his past. And that he once wished for death as a child.
Cologne – Tony Bauer (28) is not only a thoroughbred comedian, he is above all a great role model for many people. In the RTL show “Let's Dance” he shows the television nation how he can achieve top sporting performance despite his serious illness. In an interview he revealed a sad anecdote about his childhood.

Since the age of eight, Tony Bauer has suffered from short bowel syndrome, a condition in which the small intestine, which is primarily responsible for absorbing nutrients, no longer functions. Because of this serious health challenge, Tony spent much of his youth in the hospital and even fell into a coma several times.
In an interview with RTL, the “Let’s Dance” candidate openly admits: “I wanted to die. I looked at my mom and said: “Then I don’t want to live anymore.” Tony says he “wanted to be normal.” Like all other children, Tony would have liked to be a soccer star or at least go to the amusement park.

Despite his sad story, Tony gives many TV viewers beautiful and funny moments. In the fourth “Let's Dance” show he created an unforgettable moment when a rude comment came to his lips shortly before the finale. Tony had obviously forgotten that his microphone was still on and cursed, "Lick my...". He immediately realized his misstep and tried to cover the microphone. Afterwards, the comedian surely apologized immediately.

While the moderator Daniel Hartwich (45) burst out laughing, Tony Bauer's dance partner Anastasia (26) turned red in the face out of shame. When co-host Victoria Swarovski (30) curiously asked what Bauer had said, Hartwich hesitated to repeat it and joked: "That was an Easter saying." In a recent interview, Tony Bauer spoke about the risks of his "Let' s Dance” participation.
