Charging your electric car in Essonne, when you don't have a socket at home, can turn into an obstacle course. With 275 IRVE stations (electric vehicle charging infrastructure) recorded last January, or 900 sockets, the department is seriously behind schedule. According to a report from the National Association for the Development of Electric Mobility (Avere France), Essonne should multiply the number of total sockets by five in ten years. It is with this objective that the department unanimously adopted its “electromobility” strategy on Monday.
“With only 1.7% of electric cars, or around 30,000 vehicles, Essonne is under-equipped,” laments Nicolas Méary, vice-president (Horizons) in charge of biodiversity and ecological transition at the departmental council. We are far from the national strategy which targets 15% by 2030. The electrification of the vehicle fleet being a lever for reducing greenhouse gases, we must facilitate this transition. »
