A federal judge in New York this Thursday sentenced businessman Sam Bankman-Fried to 25 years in prison for his role in the multimillion-dollar cryptocurrency fraud that led to the bankruptcy of the financial asset exchange company FTX.
A federal jury convicted Bankman-Fried, 32, in November of two counts of fraud and five counts of conspiracy with which he was charged. He has been held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn since then. His bail was canceled following allegations that he interfered with witnesses.
