The pop star has already sold numerous albums in his career and is still filling concert halls. But what many people don't know: Roland Kaiser also worked as a TV producer.
Berlin – Many people would describe Roland Kaiser (71) as a veteran of the hit scene. But the “Santa Maria” singer has not only achieved success on stage, but also off the show stage - Kaiser produced an absolute highlight in the TV program for numerous television viewers.
Pop singer Roland Kaiser created “RTL Saturday Night”
The pop star is known for his direct manner - so it is not surprising that Roland Kaiser relentlessly criticized the hit industry. But the 71-year-old obviously not only has a penchant for open words, but also a knack for successful shows. Together with Hugo Egon Balder (74) he produced the RTL show “RTL Saturday Night”.
He revealed the reason for this to Oliver Polak (47) in the podcast “Polaks Schlagertalk”: “I wanted to see what it looked like on the other side of the counter,” explained Kaiser with a laugh. And further: “Then I started setting up a production company with Jack Drechlser.” According to Kaiser, the idea for the comedy show came from the German television presenter Margarethe Schreinemakers (65).
Why does Roland Kaiser always wear a suit?
The suit has long since become Roland Kaiser's trademark. He consciously chose this type of clothing. As he revealed in the WDR interview, there was a director in his past who had all the artists appear on the main podium before the broadcast and then made comments about the clothing. To resist him, he slipped straight into the suit.
“RTL Saturday Night” – a must-see program at the time
“'RTL Saturday Night' was legendary,” Kaiser proudly concluded his story. And he can be proud too - after all, the show was a must-see TV program for many between 1993 and 1998. At that time, completely new comedy artists were introduced to it - including Mirco Nontschew (52), Rüdiger Hoffmann (59) and Ingo Appelt (56). Roland Kaiser has made the careers of many comedians easier.
