With a sense of community and musical charm, the Walpertskirchen orchestra and the Monday band played towards brighter days.

Walpertskirchen – The spring concert in Walpertskirchen, conducted by professional musician Stephan Glaubitz, who also played along with his double bass, was just as colorful as the loving decoration in the primary school's multi-purpose room.

Multi-colored flowers on the walls as well as magnificent spring bouquets and garlands made the room literally bloom with the cheerful sounds. Also in attendance was the Monday band, led by orchestra member Katrin Schuster, who, as a creative all-rounder, not only played various instruments on Saturday evening, but also contributed arrangements of her own for both ensembles.

At the end of the concert, both Glaubitz and Schuster were thanked by everyone involved with a gift for their dedicated work. Here we could experience how friendly togetherness and music connect people.

The pieces took the audience into different genres and countries, accompanied by a picture show that illustrated the music. Various marches were on the program, including the rousing Maxglaner Carnival March, one of the few pieces of folk music in a minor key. There was great applause for zither player Erna Hörmann, who played the “Third Man” with the orchestra - a demanding showpiece for the Alpine string instrument. She also enriched the program in a duo with Jens Kausch on the accordion.

“Singin' The Blues” was the name of a grooving piece by the Monday band, for which Schuster not only wrote the arrangement, but also switched from accordion to piano. The title “The Ludlows” written by the film music composer James Horner was reminiscent of the opulent film “Legends of Passion”, with the piano (Alexandra Tietz) and the violin (Sabine Starkmann) having prominent roles. Drummer Peter Kazmierczak created a reliable basis.

Waltz sounds provided dance momentum. When the orchestra played “Veronika, the Lenz is here,” the audience sang along to the chorus in a good mood and then applauded loudly.
