The Organization of Journalists and Journalists of the Yediot Group today (Thursday) petitioned the Regional Labor Court in Tel Aviv to order the management of the group to apply the collective agreements and the conditions contained therein to the employees of the group's ynet site and to conduct negotiations with the workers' representatives regarding the terms of employment of workers before Carrying out unilateral measures in the system.

The negotiations with the Yedioth Ahronoth Group management reached an impasse about two weeks ago, when the management rejected the committee's minimum requirements for the working conditions and the remaining employees in the unified system. Officials in the committee then said, voila! Branch that: "If the management starts firing the employees unilaterally - a complete shutdown of the newspaper is also on the agenda."

As you may recall, on July 23 Yediot management announced that it intends to make structural changes and merge the Ynet news system with the news system of Yediot Ahronoth, which affects hundreds of employees from both systems.

At the beginning, Yedioth Ahronoth's management presented a plan to lay off 67 employees, but the number referred only to the consolidation of the systems and not to other divisions in the group such as Radio Ynet, which was closed, and "Menta" magazine - which recently parted ways with 11 employees. In addition to them, as of now, 20 employees have voluntarily resigned from the group, 9 have been fired, 6 have gone on leave in November and 3 have resigned.

Demand for compensation in the amount of NIS 200 thousand for the damage to the organization

The legal advisor of the journalists' organization, Adv. Amir Besha, stated in the petition that: "The management refuses to end the collective bargaining agreement at its last level and is working to change the work procedures of the photographers and other workers unilaterally, in an improper attempt to make them sign personal agreements, while harming the organization of the workers , above the head of the workers' representative, and does not act in accordance with its legal obligations with regard to the application of the collective agreements to all employees

. A sweeping waiver according to which they have no complaints against the management, unilaterally changes the reimbursement of expenses, requires the signing of an agreement with a clause stating that the provisions of the collective agreements do not apply to the employees and exempts the photographers from the work hours and rest law.

"Furthermore, contrary to the Collective Agreements Law, on March 13, the Yediot management prevented the Journalists' Organization from entering a short briefing meeting for the employees, without any interruption to work. The organization asks the court to determine that the Yediot Group must refrain from actions to thwart the organization of the workers or to influence it and to pay Compensation in the amount of NIS 200,000 for the damage to the organization."
