They will undergo training in their country, Morocco, and then be employed in seasonal jobs in companies in Bronte, in the province of Catania, and in Valledolmo, in the Palermo area.
This is provided for in the memorandum of understanding signed this morning at Palazzodei Normanni, headquarters of the Sicilian Regional Assembly, between the Sicilian Foreign Workers Association, the Human Solidarity Consortium and the General Union of Moroccan Workers (Ugtm). An agreement that opens up new "work corridors", as foreseen by the Consolidated Law on immigration after the innovations introduced by the Cutro Decree. The UGTM of Fez will be responsible for supporting and financing training courses in Morocco and recruiting students.
The initiative is open to all companies in the Italian territory that wish to join it and will be able to do so by accessing the dedicated portal (www.migrants.work), the first online platform specialized in the private placement of foreigners which allows Italian companies and families to search for and hire trained personnel with linguistic knowledge, thus counteracting the phenomenon of gangmastering.
"We want to offer migrants valid alternatives to the dangerous crossing of the Mediterranean - says Paolo Ragusa, regional president of the Foreign Workers Association -.
We will manage entry in derogation of the quotas set by the Decretoflussi, creating a favorable ecosystem in Bronte and Valledolmo. We will guarantee decent housing and social accompaniment actions".
"We are proud to open new perspectives of international cooperation, following the directives of King Mohammed VI, which underline the importance of limiting illegal immigration and strengthening international partnerships", observes Driss Abelhad, provincial secretary of Fez of the Ugtm union. For the councilor for social policies of the Sicilian region, Nuccia Albano, "those who come from abroad can thus fit in more quickly and in the best way in companies that are looking for qualified manpower"; while Andrea Messina, who heads the department of local authorities , "faced with the situation of thousands and thousands of unorganized arrivals in our country, we must be clear that it is necessary to implement training courses to facilitate access to opportunities for entry into the world of work, strengthening and simplifying the integration process".
