Strawberry yogurts, carrots, oil, lentils... Here, everything is organic and local. However, it is a solidarity market for Secours populaire. The one which took place this Wednesday, March 27 in Trappes, is the first initiative of this type in Yvelines. It aims to offer beneficiaries, who have an average of 2.90 euros of available resources per day and per person, the opportunity to purchase fresh and local products. Nearly 600 people from the Guyancourt, Trappes and La Verrière branches took advantage of the operation. Among them, 39% are alone or live together in a household.
“When it’s organic and fresh, it’s still better for the children.” A resident of Trappes, Fatima did not hesitate for a second before signing up for the “pop'ephemeral market”. “Quite honestly, I don't like canned goods very much, so if I have the choice, I prefer to come here,” explains the mother. With a retired husband, she unemployed and two daughters aged 6 and 3, the small family is “going through a very difficult time”.
