It is one of the jewels of the city, after the castle. Classified as a historic monument since 1996, the reinforced concrete religious building houses true works of art: the frescoes of the “Beatitudes” by Maurice Denis and “the Stations of the Cross” by Henri Marret. The Saint-Louis church in Vincennes is currently restoring 800 m2 of frescoes on the south aisle. Work on the equivalent north aisle will begin soon.
The restoration comes after major enclosed and covered work, notably concerning the waterproofing of the roof, completed in 2022, partly financed by the Bern mission. Father Arnaud Bonassies, parish priest, rejoices with the parishioners that “the church is regaining its splendor and can allow everyone to taste the artistic and spiritual soul of this place”.
